13 Alright.

Lenny on 9 Feb 2007

Helmet… no wait… The Refused… or maybe old school Carcass….

Buttercup on 9 Feb 2007

Black Sabbath and AC/DC. I can’t choose between the two.

Danielle on 10 Feb 2007

Hmm.. dunno if it’s metal, but I don’t care, Avenged Sevenfold is my favorite hard rock band.

+Suggestive_Apostrophe+ on 10 Feb 2007

A7X is still metal. im a blackmetaller. i listen to lyk Behemoth, Bal-Sagoth, Dimmu Borgir, etc.

Buttercup on 10 Feb 2007

I dunno Isaiah, WAY back when I was 18, Black Sabbath and AC/DC were considered metal…along with Pantera, Megadeth, Metallica and Anthrax…and many more.

I’m sorry +Suggestive_Apostrophe+, I don’t know those bands…I am dating myself! Though I am partial to hard rock, alternative and punk too (The Clash!!! Green Day!!!) I do sometimes enjoy metal, so I’ll definitely check out your selections.

Danielle on 10 Feb 2007

Don’t worry, Buttercup, I haven’t heard any of the ones Suggestive Apostrophe mentioned, I’m going to check ‘em out right now though.

And props to Buttercup for The Clash (I love them and Green Day even more so). Sidenote: I’ve gotten my brother into The Clashl. I think he knows more of their songs than I do.. haha.. it’s cute though.

Buttercup on 11 Feb 2007

OMG…me too Danni. My kids love The Clash. It is a riot to hear them sing all the words to Death and Glory and Train in Vain. Hahahaha!

Buttercup on 11 Feb 2007

Isaiah: I am old. Older than your mom, I’m sure. I’m sure that the metal of 1981 (when I was 18) is different than the metal of today, but everything is relative after all. The hip hop music of my day (“Rappers Delight” comes to mind) is very different from today’s hip hop, but it is no less hip hop. All music evolves and grows and changes. Thank God. Or I’d be bored.

Metallica and Judas Priest

+Suggestive_Apostrophe+ on 12 Feb 2007

metallica and judas priest = lml >.< lml X3

Buttercup on 12 Feb 2007

Well I am Stef. Just about. 1963 here. Actually, my 40s have been my best years yet, so I’m not sweatin’ it.

I get it Isaiah. Don’t be confused, you’re making sense. The genres’s definitions have to change as music changes.

KING DIAMOND

ebraswell on 11 May 2008

I used to listen to a lot of metal, but not anymore. My friends listen to a lot of metal like Nile, Behemoth, Nevermore, Cyptopsy, Emperor, etc………

6 I'm scared.

Arturo on 10 Feb 2007

Is this where I give you a list of my favorite metal bands and then you tell me that they suck?

+Suggestive_Apostrophe+ on 10 Feb 2007

Umm…it could be…I don’t really know. But maybe. Gimme your likes.

that's enough now on 11 Feb 2007

Hehe Arturo.

stefani (yep me) on 12 Feb 2007

Ummm “metal”? Metallica and maybe AC/DC but that would be it…we’d get beat up if we listened to that where I grew up…

Nori on 12 Feb 2007

…of today’s metal. It makes me want to hide - in a nice safe, quiet place.

+Suggestive_Apostrophe+ on 13 Feb 2007

Metal isn’t music. Of course, that’s my opinion. I do like Buttercup’s suggestions over in the way left column, but wouldn’t really consider them metal. They’re hard rock, but no metal. You see, you can understand what the singers are saying without having to look up the lyrics, how could AC/DC possibly metal?

Danielle on 10 Feb 2007

I can’t say I like that statement, Isaiah. Of course it’s music. Alot of things are music. Maybe you just don’t like it.

Kelly on 10 Feb 2007

Metal is music, but I don’t like it.

+Suggestive_Apostrophe+ on 10 Feb 2007

Isaiah, look up Killswitch Engage. Just listen to a song like…”Hope Is…” you can understand the screamed lyrics almost perfectly. Or maybe look up Strapping Young Lad…their song “Anti Product” you can understand. Just look from our point of view and you might reconsider, that’s all.

rampantheart on 11 Feb 2007

I like pop better.

Isaiah on 11 Feb 2007

Yes, I suppose I was being a bit rude. But like you say, I really just don’t like the genre. It’s not necessarily a bad genre, I just don’t like it personally. I suppose any genre of music can be appealing to someone. I don’t know, I guess I just think of metal music and I think of unintelligible screaming at the top of one’s lungs. (that wasn’t meant to be an insult… I really do think that when I think of metal.) Of course, I’m not the one to ask, I like more relaxed music usually, and when it’s not relaxed music, it’s music I can sing/dance terribly to. I don’t know, I usually just don’t find amusement in screaming at the top of my lungs. I like yelling a song, but not screaming it. There’s a difference in my head. Anyway, maybe I’m mixing two genres of music in my head, maybe I’m totally mistaken, either way, Suggestive Apostrophe, you’re right, it’s only my opinion that I can say. I didn’t mean to say metal music was BAD, although I did, I meant to say I didn’t like it very much. I apologize, I feel kind of like a jerk. No hard feelings, I hope.

Buttercup, yeah, AC/DC and Black Sabbath were metal when you were 18. I don’t know how old you are, but I feel it’s safe to assume you are old enough to consider those two bands metal. Have you looked into the bands Suggestive Apostrophe mentioned? Metal has taken on a different meaning today. Just like all music. Music develops, and it’s mostly getting more and more hard core. I don’t know, I’m pretty sure metal today is way different than AC/DC and such.

Isaiah on 11 Feb 2007

Buttercup: Right, you’re saying exactly what I’m saying. Exactly. I’m saying metal of your age isn’t the same as metal of mine. Therefore, I don’t consider AC/DC and such metal, because metal today is so much more intense. I’m getting really confused, I think.

P.S. my mom was born in 1962 ;)

stefani (yep me) on 12 Feb 2007

Whew! I’m not as old as your mom.

Isaiah on 12 Feb 2007

Okay, okay, then I see. Phew. I’m glad I’m no longer confused.

Alright.

I'm scared.

I hate metal.
